Why Dining at Disney Be Our Guest Restaurant will Leave You Enchanted
I saw Beauty and the Beast the day after it opened. I reclined in a VIP leather seat, munched popcorn and sipped a delicious sangria as beast fought for love as the petals fell rapidly. I loved it so much that I am anxiously awaiting the Blu-Ray or a repeat performance – whichever comes first. While waiting for the blockbuster romantic smash to begin, I had forgotten just how much I loved the Beauty and the Beast animated classic and how the characters were such a joy to watch. It truly is a Disney classic that deserves all the accolades it has earned. It totally deserves the representation it currently has in the Disney parks. And within the Magic Kingdom’s many ‘Beast’ attractions is the enchanting Disney Be Our Guest restaurant located just beside the Snow White Mine Train.
Disney Be Our Guest is a table service restaurant built right inside the Beast’s castle. It is an interesting set-up as you place your order with the staff upon entry. Once you pay, you are then welcomed inside to await your meal brought via food cart.
With the release of my new favourite adaptation of the film this month, you can only imagine the influx in popularity to enjoy a meal here. The increase in interest is a pleasantry for Disneyworld as in recent years, the novelty of eating beside the enchanted rose did not receive as high demand as seating within Cinderella’s castle. The set-up of Disney Be Our Guest restaurant deterred guests as many families preferred being seated and placing orders all at the table.
We headed to the restaurant for breakfast. We loved this as our reservations were before opening hours! Can you even imagine seeing Cinderella’s castle with so few people around you? It really is surreal. When you get to security, speak with the staff member holding the designated clipboard to confirm your details. You will then be granted express processing through the bag check and expedited through the entrance.
Main Street is clear of the usual Disney crowds as the characters begin their trip to the park. If you time it right, you just may see the start of the day with the characters arriving via train with showers of confetti falling to the ground.
Walking inside the Disney Be Our Guest Restaurant, I was instantly enchanted. Castles are such majestic structures housing history, royalty, and a ton of sophistication. And Beast’s residence lived up to this reputation. You are surrounded by ornate tapestries, directional signage to such locations as the West Wing, and many a mosaic depicting the beloved characters of the classic movie.
We were next obliged to order our breakfast. Disney Be Our Guest Restaurant offers customers a nice assortment of dishes to choose from with each accompanied by a plate of freshly baked pastries and bottomless coffee and juice. The prices aren’t the cheapest of the restaurants at the park (many of the cafeteria-style or self-serve are quite cheaper), but they are one of the more reasonable of the table service restaurants. We opted for the croque Madame and charcuterie plate that morning and couldn’t be happier with our choices.
It was amazing that they found us as it took forever for us to decide where to sit! I mean, when you are in the Beast’s castle, it isn’t an easy decision! The West Wing or the ballroom? Well, after due consideration, we chose the ballroom and ate our delicious breakfasts while the happy couple danced beside us.
Our meals at Disney Be Our Guest were very tasty. It was one meal I found to be close to the standards I would expect from a Disney restaurant considering the $19.99 per entree price point. Not every eatery in our opinion is of these superior standards (reviews to follow), but this one did meet this expectation. The pastries were fresh, the coffee was plentiful, and the main courses full of flavour. We left full and satisfied to start our magical day.
Now About the West Wing at Disney Be Our Guest Restaurant…
The highlight of the Disney Be our Guest restaurant is definitely not the food. Don’t get me wrong, I did enjoy my meal very much as noted above, however, the details placed in the decor wins by a country mile over the culinary quality. If you cannot find a seat in the area, head to the West Wing after your meal. Inside, it is a complete replica of the forbidden area in the movie. This includes the domed enchanted rose. One of the most beautiful elements of a Disney film, the park truly made efforts to ensure the rose was replicated as beautifully and accurately as possible. The lighting is not the greatest in the room, though authentic to that in the movie, but do try and get a selfie in front of it. It definitely lives up to its name with being enchanted.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Disney Be Our Guest restaurant. We loved the replicated decor, the West Wing, the enchanted rose, and the satisfying breakfast. I highly recommend if you are on the dining plan to enjoy a meal here not only to savour of freshly baked pastry, but also to feel like royalty within a castle.
