This is your Essential Toronto One of a Kind Show Gift Guide!
Living in the Six, you have so much opportunity at your doorstep. There is so much to see, do, eat, buy, admire, you name it. We get to see so much and encourage ideas to transform into beautiful things that we give to others or cherish ourselves. The One of a Kind Show is a massive example of exceptional and exemplary creativity. It is a mass of hundreds of imaginative cells flourishing in one place. An artist’s dream. A shopoholic’s heaven. It literally is the Grand Central Station of unique items you simply cannot resist. The show graces Toronto twice a year – once in the spring for a 5-day show, and at Christmastime for 11 days. It is divided into sections, satisfying all tastes – jewellery, clothing, fine art, sculptures, food, toys, Children’s items, Christmas decor, furniture, textiles, ceramics, and more. It is such a fun outing for both guys and girls and you just never know what you will find. Here is my One of a Kind Show Gift Guide of my top pics this year that will surely assist with your seasonal shopping list.
Beautiful Christmas Wreath – All Through the House
I particularly love this wreath created and sold by All Through the House. This lovely artisan with a wonderful array of Christmas decor, hails from Cambridge Ontario and brings such spiritual pieces to to make your home all the more festive. Wreaths can sometimes look the same. I loved this wreath as it brought a beautiful little bird of softness and fragility to the contrast of twigs and textures. This little beauty will run you $36 + tax. All Through the House will be at the show for its entire duration.
LOVEFRESH – Clean and Fresh Body Care
My sister and I have been a huge fan of LOVEFRESH since they made their debut at the show. They have such fresh and light body care products that you seriously won’t want to wait to implement in your shower. I particularly love the pear scented body wash. Perfect for those stockings you need to fill! She will be there for the duration of the show.
Gorgeous Handcrafted Nativity Scene – Atelier Alina
I had been searching for a beautiful nativity scene for my home for quite some time. I had seen cheap looking ones made of plastic, or simply overpriced sets that really didn’t look as holy as they could. Then I saw these hand carved sets offered by Atelier Alina at the show. Originally from Poland, this artisan truly loves their craft and brings such passion to the show with their products. Nativities come in all sizes, with a variety of gorgeous figurines, and some lighted. Not interested in a nativity scene? No problem! Check out their beautiful ornaments. They reminded me of Wedgwood. You won’t be disappointed.
Gorgeous Mosaics- Anja Hertle
I love unique art pieces and ornaments. Anja Hertle has just that with her one of a kind pieces ready take grab and add character to your household. From Grafton Ontario, Anja brings her background in acrylics to her love of mosaics and creates beautiful artful pieces. By grabbing one of her ornaments, you will definitely evoke memories, style, and bragging rights. She will be at the show for its entire duration.
Mugs with Character – Muskoka Bay
Not sure what to buy that long lost uncle? That teacher? That art connoisseur? Your father-in-law? Why not pick up something really cool like a mug with distinct facial features! I loved these mugs and they would be perfect for a hot chocolate at the fire while watching Elf on a cold winter’s day. James of Muskoka Bay handcrafts these unique pieces in the Muskoka region of Ontario.
Feel Girlie in a Handmade Tulle Skirt!
I love to feel like a princess now and then. How about you? Well, look no further than the Garderobe boutique! I initially found them on Etsy, and was already enamored by the sparkle and magic of these beautiful skirts. Grab one for that Disney fan, that princess, or that special lady who would love something elegant and fun in her wardrobe.
Grab a Comfy Cozy Sweater at Luved Clothing INC.
I loved this artisan the minute I passed them during the One of a Kind Show. Luved Clothing’s long soft sweaters complete with hoods in a variety of colours and lengths were the perfect addition to any winter wardrobe. I loved the product so much that I indulged on got one for my wardrobe in turquoise. Check them out! They will be there for the duration of the show.
How About Something Whimsical? Sugar Bush Fairies
So, how about something totally unique like a fairy door? Sugar Bush Fairies offers unique fairy doors for your gardens or other areas to invite fairies to your home! A very cool idea for that fairy garden fan, these doors would make the perfect Christmas gift. Check out their website to learn more about how to attract fairies to your house and all about the tradition.
Get An Incredible Inspirational Wildlife Photo
So I have a soft spot for this photograph I will showcase in particular. The back story of this eagle is inspiring and words to live by. We can all overcome strife and live to talk about it. The Eagle photo is the face of Jason Leo Bantle, photographer and owner of All In the Wild, who has galleries in various cities across Canada. I first saw his work at his gallery in Niagara-on-the-Lake and was already taken in by the emotion in the Eagle’s face. He has many many photos to choose from, but me personally, I love the eagle. Do check out Jason’s photos. He will be at the One of a Kind Show for its duration.
Grab a Gift that is Really a Pickle…
Pickles seem to be a thing. They have even come out with Pickle flavoured candy canes to satisfy those of us who love pickles like Canadians love bacon. Step in Justyna’s Room at the One of a Kind Show. She has crafted some truly unique pickle-themed cards and gifts. Perfect for that special greeting or stocking stuffer, check out her stuff.
Grab a Unique Piece of Jewellery with Zippers!
I thought Vanessa Yanow’s zipper necklaces were so darn cool and fashion forward. She has a huge variety of pendants and demonstrates to customers how you can zip up or down your necklace depending on the neckline of the day! She also has a fabulous collection of bracelets and other pieces. Do check her out and quite possibly find that perfect gift for your office Secret Santa exchange. She will be at the One of a Kind Show for its duration.
Classic Wood-carved Bird Ornaments
So I just loved these beautiful wood carved bird ornaments! Canadian birds never looked better outside the wild. These guys look authentic and would make the perfect addition to your tree. I particularly LOVE the owls and bluebird. Which one would you choose? Northwoods Carvings of Coldwater Ontario are the talented folk behind these creations. They will be at the One of a Kind Show for its duration.
Grab a Gorgeous Hobby Horse
The detail and care taken in these beautiful pieces blew me away. Unicorns, swans, and gorgeous girlie hobby horses for that little one in your life. Weslie & Nan bring the feminine side of girls into such beautifully made items. Check them out soon as they are only at the show for the first 5 days.
Get Some Fun Scented Food Jewellery
I love Candiware. I have been a fan for a few years now and think their fun take on jewellery to be so fun. I have one of their necklaces which features a latte and a piece of birthday cake. It definitely is a conversation piece and I hope that others who visit the show check them out as well! The sushi pieces are so sweet and you cannot go wrong with a coffee or cake pendant! They will be at the One of a Kind Show for its duration.
How About some Dried Vegetable Art?
I thought this piece at the One of a Kind Show was so darn cool. Dried vegetables framed into some really neat artworks. I could totally see this in the budding chef’s kitchen or a farmer’s special relaxing spot. Or, simply for the one on your list who likes truly nifty pieces of art. Check out Botanical Art at the show and seriously admire these unique pieces! I am currently redoing my kitchen and am considering one of her pieces for the decor.
As my devoted fans know, I am a big cupcake fan so no matter if they are edible or not, they catch my eye on a gift quest. So at the One of a Kind Show I was completely blown away by the really cool cupcake soaps made by Demo Soap! These glycerin based soaps are the perfect addition to your bath tub for the suds you need after a long day at work. Plus they make awesome stocking stuffers!
Gorgeous Hand-painted Cat, Bunny, & Swan ornaments
You know that an artisan truly knows her craft when she can take a non-cat person and have her buying an ornament of a cat. I am seriously not a cat person. I prefer dogs. However, Selena’s beautifully delicate wooden ornaments hand painted in baby pinks and golds won me over. Her ornaments, pillows, artworks, and cards, are the perfect addition to any household. Check out her cat, bunny and swan ornaments! They will make your tree all the more magical. You can find Selena’s booth, featuring her company Sous Sous’s product right in the centre of it all for the show’s duration.
Perfectly iced Christmas Cookies
Now, many of us have a Kris Kringle, Secret Santa, colleague gift exchange etc. to enjoy. You draw a name and have no clue what to buy. That is where the Teeny Tiny Bakery comes in. They have the coolest little Christmas themed cookies I have ever seen with the most perfect icing! Grab a few packages here and see your co-worker smile from ear to ear. You seriously want to avoid a remake of that scene in the Office with a hand-knitted Tea Cozy….
So one of my favourite scenes in the film Christmas Vacation is when Clark Griswald finds out he gets a year membership for the Jam of the Month Club. Well, if the membership was from Penny Candy Jam, he would have been so happy with his gift (and wouldn’t have missed his bonus.) Check out the jam finely made by Bryce and his wife. I especially LOVED the pear and thyme flavour! They will be there for the duration of the One of a Kind Show.
Why Not Get Some Delicious Macarons?
Paris move over! These macarons look and taste out of this world! Check out AG Macarons at the One of a Kind Show and take home a box for a colleague, a family member, a stocking, or just for yourself. They have many awesome flavours (over 50!) including toasted coconut, chocolate, pink champagne, and lemon cake.
