I must be honest. I can stay anywhere when I travel. Well, most places. (I won’t get into that bed bug incident four years ago.) But even with this high tolerance to accommodation quality, I too enjoy a luxurious stay now and then at a 4-5 ***** hotel with all the amenities I could want. And this is just what it was like staying at the Hilton Lac Leamy in Gatineau Quebec.

I have stayed at this lovely hotel three times and it was pure luxury with each visit. There are many styles of rooms available and all the amenities you could want. Treat yourself with a suite, fully loaded with Nespresso coffee, fluffy pillows, and turn down service, or go that one step further and book on the Executive floor- prestige complete with all the mentioned perks, plus access to the exclusive lounge.

What I loved about these suites was the spaciousness for luggage and spreading out. For many who fly and must sit in those cramped seats, having a large suite may just be the solution for aching feet and legs. There is nothing nicer than feeling the freedom of lazing in a paradise away from home and those “cozy” rooms that are borderline closets just do not do it for me.

The Executive Lounge is such an incredible added perk. Wake up early and head for complimentary breakfast. Enjoy waffles, pastries, eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit, yogurt, bagels, porridge, cereals, juices, and more. Make a barista quality latte or brewed cuppa coffee or tea, and sit back and enjoy as you read the provided newspaper. There are many sockets to set up your laptop should you need to conduct any business as well as televisions showing the latest events around the city.

Come back around 5 pm for complimentary hors d’oeuvres to complement a whiskey on the rocks. Fancy a nightcap? Head to the lounge around 8 pm for selected sweets and tarts, and 9 pm for a variety of freshly baked cookies to partner with a nighttime espresso.

Why I love this Hotel

I love this hotel as it gives you a taste of luxury and pampering right from the beginning whether travelling for business or pleasure. The lobby has a high-class decor featuring the blown glass works of Seattle artist Dale Chihuly. It is seriously a perfect start to a stay! And, not only do they have the roomy suites, amenities and everything else you could need, but this hotel is just five minutes from downtown Ottawa, perfect for adding the nation’s capital to your travel plans.

The Casino & Theatre

This beautiful hotel not only provides luxury for your personal needs, but also offers a variety of entertainment options. Enjoy a bit of gambling now and then? If you do, the attached casino may be of interest. The casino offers a wide range of slot machines of various bidding increments, roulette, baccarat, and card tables, high rollers areas, and more. There is a privileges card for frequent visitors which accumulates points rewards and cash credits.

If you have a VIP pass, why not head into the casino lounge and enjoy a complimentary drink and meal? I highly recommend the Casino Coffee – a blend of Kahlua, Bailey’s, and Grand Marnier with Espresso, whipped cream, a sugared rim, and two chocolate coffee beans on top. Heaven! (especially if you lose on the slots!)

Fine Dining

The Hilton Lac Leamy definitely impresses with its fine dining options! Head to Arome for a taste of French elegance with a prix fixe menu, market lobster, and a variety of signature staples that you will sure to love. Pair your chosen mains with the perfect wine. Ask the onsite sommelier for recommendations based on your selected course. The wine list is extensive spanning vineyards all across the globe.

Have room for dessert? Arome offers a delightful buffet of assorted pies, pastries, tarts, and creamy classics as creme caramel and creme brulee to satisfy even the fussiest of sweet tooths. Enjoy these homemade delights with a cuppa coffee or pot of tea to conclude a deliciously gastronomic experience.

Creme Caramel and Sugar Pie

Arome is just one of the five restaurants serving a variety of dishes suiting all tastes and budgets. It is wise to make reservations so do speak with the concierge to book your table and provide assistance with securing the right venue for your perfect candlelight meal, business meeting, or dinner party.

Great Amenities

Besides having a wonderful array of restaurants, rooms, and a wonderful casino to bring you a potential windfall, the hotel brings great offerings for the rest of your stay. Enjoy indoor and outdoor pools with towel service, indoor and outdoor hot tubs, spa services, tennis courts, and a fully stocked fitness club.

Travelling in the winter? Why not slip into the outdoor hot tub for a taste of both hot and cold sensations? Make sure to keep your provided bathrobe nearby to get out swiftly!
