A Special Trip to Rome is this Traveller’s Wish from Santa this year
I love that letters to Santa are still a thing. With the advent of technology, digital communications, and the shorter time spans we have for leisure activities, it is heartwarming that Santa still receives millions of letters from children and adults alike. As we continue our Traveller’s Letters to Santa series, have a read of Kelly’s beautiful letter in honour of her Mum and her wish for a Special Trip to Rome. After reading her letter, I sincerely hope for her that Santa makes her dream come true.
Look, I am a huge fan of your work and have been a super good girl this year. I mean, I travel a lot and always bring back souvenirs for people so that’s nice right? Okay, well there have been other things that I have done that are a little fancier. Plus, I am working on being kinder to the people around me so that I can totally score the top spot on your nice list (and be a better human being too).
Now for what I’d really like for Christmas this year; (and no, it’s not a pair of heavy wool socks that my dad always gives me…) As you know, I am not super close with my family, so I’d really like get away from New York and spend Christmas abroad with a Special Trip to Rome this year.
I want to celebrate this beautiful holiday in Rome not only because of the city’s close proximity to the Vatican (which is like mecca for Catholics like me, even though I am not super religious) but because this is the one city that my mom and I always wanted to visit, together. But we never got to go because right before our trip, my mom was diagnosed with stage four ovarian cancer and we had to cancel our plans. “No big deal, “ we thought, “we’ll just reschedule.” And that totally would have worked except that sadly, my mom passed away a year later, and we didn’t have time to plan another trip.
So now, almost five years after my mom passed away, I feel emotionally and spiritually ready for that Special Trip to Rome in honor of the trip that my mom never got to take. I will carry her with me, in my heart, and do all the things that we always want to do.
But I need your help Santa since this year has been kind of rough on me, that’s why I need a little Saint Nicholas magic. I mean, you know that I got scammed out of $4,000 and that my trip to Norway was cancelled. And it’s totally fine and I’ve gotten over it, but if you could just send a plane ticket to Rome my way, that would be epic. The ticket doesn’t have to be first class but if you’re feeling generous, I won’t say no.
Thanks for listening Santa. I know you’ll do your best and even if it doesn’t happen, I still love you and will keep trying to spread that love all across the globe
All my love,
